Many of us think about whether or not the food we eat is sustainable but what about drinks. From sugar in rum to quinoa in vodka and rice in sake, Fair Trade Certified ingredients are being used to formulate distilled alcoholic beverages and spirits.

Fair Trade Certified is the most consumer-recognized certification for sustainable sourcing spirits companies with a direct link to fairly priced direct trade with producers. Sourcing spirits made from Fair Trade Certified ingredients provides the industry and consumers the opportunity to demonstrate commitment to high quality and sustainably sourced alcohol beverages.

Each country cultivates unique and exotic products. Similarily, nations distinct across Asia, Latin America, and Africa face economic, social, and political challenges. We can make small changes in the drinks and we can use our dollars to ensure:

Fair and safe labor conditions, freedom of association, and living wages
Community development funds to invest in the future of their farming community
A minimum floor price for their production
A premium for their production
The prohibited use of harmful agrochemicals and GMOs in favor of environmentally sustainable farming methods that protect farmers' health and preserve valuable ecosystems for future generations
